Driveway Sealing
![]()
| HOME | Why Sealing is Important? |
| FAQ's | Sealing is NOT a substitute for repairs to damaged
surfaces. It can, however, prolong the life of weathered surfaces, and
prevent good surfaces from becoming damaged as described below. As soon as freshly laid asphalt begins to cool, so also begins the aging process which can eventually rob the pavement of its life. The longer you allow your driveway to deteriorate, the greater the pain of repairs. Preventative maintenance is the most headache free way of maintaining your driveway. |

| How Often Should You Seal Your Driveway? | |
| We live in an area where we receive a great deal of rain
and snow, where it freezes and thaws often, and in an area where the
temperature reaches close to 100 degrees in the summer and your driveway
is unprotected from the brutal rays of the sun, therefore you
should seal your driveway at least every other year. Let your vision be your guide. If your driveway is cracking or chipping before it is time for a new coat, then have it treated again. *Note. Do not seal a new driveway. This material needs to cure for 6 months before treatment is applied. |

| What Ages Your Driveway? | |
| Chemicals accelerate the natural oxidation process. Gasoline, oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze and other fluids that leak from automobiles will dissolve the asphaltic binder. Water, which penetrates the pavement, stresses the asphalt and propagates cracks. And of course, the sun's ultraviolet rays and heat will bake blacktop until it’s brittle and cracks. Heavy traffic can cause surface to crack also. | |
